EV Range Lab

Three quick calculators for real-world EV ownership: estimate range in any weather, plan charging stops, and see what you save versus a petrol car.

0km

0 miles estimated range

Estimates only — real results vary with car, weather, terrain, tyres and charger.

How the Range Lab works

Range divides usable battery energy by consumption, then adjusts for temperature (batteries and cabin heating cost more energy below about 15 °C, and air-conditioning above about 30 °C) and for driving style — steady motorway speeds use more energy than stop-start city driving, where regenerative braking helps.

Charging time uses the slower of the charger and the car’s own limit. AC charging is capped by the car’s onboard charger (often 11 kW), and DC fast charging slows down above roughly 80%, so we model a taper for the final stretch.

Running cost compares energy per year: kWh for the EV, litres for the petrol car. Enter your local prices in any currency — the maths is the same.
